Senate Candidates 2020
More than thirty states have openings for Senate seats on their ballots. It is important that you know about them.
All progressive senate replacements are important, but at the top of the list is a great need to replace Mitch McConnell for the U.S. Senator in Kentucky.
Matt Jones came to our attention early in the election cycle. Matt Jones is a known personality in Kentucky, and loved by many. So loved that Mitch McConnell bought all the google ad space for Matt Jones (do you still use google?). Matt Jones would have won the primary and general election for U.S. Senate in Kentucky. I researched Matt Jones and was waiting to post a story on his candidacy. Jones chose not to run. I wrote that story: Matt Jones. Jones endorsed Charles Booker.
Charles Booker ultimately lost narrowly in the primary. But in Kentucky you can write-in Charles Booker. You have nothing to lose by doing so.
These are our recommendations so far:
State | Candidate | Notes |
---|---|---|
KY | Matt Jones is Not Running. | |
KY | Charles Booker | Charles Booker is the progressive candidate. Amy McGrath was chosen by Schumer as a “throwaway” candidate so that McConnell can win another term – which no one in their right mind wants.![]() ![]() |
AR | Dan Whitfield | COTTON |
DE | Jessica Scarane | COONS |
GA | Tamara Johnson-Shealey | Neither preferred progressives, Tamara Johnson-Shealey, Richard Dien Winfield, won in the primary, but there is a run-off election on January 5th, 2021, to determine the future of Georgia and the U.S. Senate. |
GA | Raphael Warnock | |
ID | David Ossoff | |
IA | Kimberly Graham | ERNST |
LA | Antoine Pierce | CASSIDY |
MA | Edward Markey | Markey has a good record on environment, privacy, net neutrality. Co-sponsored H.R. 109. Re-elect.![]() What is wrong with JKIII? First consider his investments in Exxon-Mobile fossil fuel company. Then consider that he is a protégé of “lying Liz” Warren. At bottom, JKIII run for Senate is purely egotistical; he doesn’t want to wait until the the end of Warren’a term (she should retire by that time) and he simply sees an opportunity to run against Ed Markey who supports everything the people want. JKIII is an opportunistic liar. He is NOT progressive and is willing to screw over a good Senator. Add to all this the fact that he currently represents District 4 in Massachussets, a district that encompasses, on the north, some of the wealthiest communities in the state, and, on the south, some of the poorest; the poorest communities in his district are part of the COVID-19 “9% of the population, 27% of the Coronavirus infections” and nothing is being done about that. |

Remember this:
The words of Mitch McConnell, the self-described Grim Reaper
In April 2019, McConnell criticized proposed legislation by House Democrats such as the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. McConnell declared that if he was still Senate majority leader after the 2020 elections: “none of those things are going to pass the Senate. They won’t even be voted on. So think of me as the grim reaper. None of that stuff is going to pass. None of it.”
